Attached and copied below is the agenda for Monday night's meeting of the Parks, River and Open Space (PROS) Committee. Please keep in mind the new meeting time of 6:30.  We must complete our meeting and be out of the facility at 8:30 as part of Department's cost-saving measures.

Fortunately, Bernadette will be back to chair the meeting on Monday.

Parks, River and Open Space (PROS) Committee Meeting
Monday, June 15, 2009
6:30 to 8:30 p.m.
Griffith Park Ranger Station Community Meeting Room, 4730 Crystal Springs, Griffith Park

1. Call to order and introductions.
2. Autry Expansion – GGPNC has been active in voicing concerns through resolutions relating to the expansion plan,
the DEIR, and the re-writing of the Lease Agreement. After postponement of a tentative June 16th Board of Referred
Powers meeting date, when will it be rescheduled? Will there be adequate notification and sufficient opportunity for
public review and comment? Nicole Possert (Friends of Southwest Museum) will present ideas and lead discussion.
Discussion & possible action. (15 minutes)
3. City Budget Issues – What do we know so far and how will the cuts impact Griffith Park, especially with respect to
safety and environment, most importantly, Ranger and maintenance staffing? Kristin Sabo. Discussion. (15 minutes)
4. Formation of DWP ad hoc Sub-committee – With numerous DWP-related issues, this committee will become an
important adjunct to PROS’s regular monthly workload. The member composition should include expertise/interest
from a wide range. We will review the DWP-MOU provisions. What focus DWP issues should be first considered by
the sub-committee? Volunteers will be considered and named. General discussion and action. (15 minutes)
5. Potential Changes to Trail Use in City Parks -- Lynn Brown and Joe Yong will update on all developments since
PROS May 4th meeting regarding the Dept of Transportation’s questionable process toward implementing a Bike
Element that may nullify an existing ordinance prohibiting mountain bikes and other extreme sports equipment on dirt
trails in City parks. (15 minutes)
6. Griffith Park Master Plan Working Group – Update. Gerry Hans (5 minutes)
7. DWP Light Festival – Possible update, pending release of information by DWP. Gerry Hans (5 minutes)
8. Announcements and follow up reports to previous agenda items, including: (5-10 minutes)
    a. Success of L.A. River Clean-Up, which was held May 9th
    b. GGPNC Board Appointments
9. Committee and public comment on non-agenda items (10 min)
